Nothing Decided in Hockey Day Rematch
On Hockey Day in Canada, Feb 9th, the Port Stanley Jr Sailors #2 took on their hometown rivals Port Stanley #1, in a rubber-match of their matchups this season. On this day, however, nothing was decided, as each team road strong goaltending on route to a 1-1 tie.

The strong goaltending was a sense of pride for the LL2 team, as both of their puck-stoppers, Jack Lorch & Peter Vanbroekhoven played in net. The LL1 regular goalie was missing for this game, and Jack Lorch agreed to man the net for the LL1 team in this game. Jack showed why goaltending strength is a key for the LL2 team, as he turned aside several key scoring chances to help the game end in tie. Not be outdone, Peter also had several great saves against the LL1 team. After giving up the first goal of the game to the LL1 team in the 2nd period, the LL2 team got their lone goal of the game in the 3rd period. That goal came from the stick of Nate Carmichael, as he converted a pass from Liam Hepburn to tie the game at 1-1, where it finished.

Following the tie game, each team took to the 2nd floor of the arena for a pizza lunch, courtesy of the Hockey Moms. It was a great celebration of this terrific game. It was also a good opportunity for a relaxing game prior to the competition that begins at next weekend’s opening of the LMLL playoffs against Ilderton. The Jets are rolling now, having just won a tournament, and will be a very difficult challenge for the Jr Sailors. It will take a total team effort, and strong play to move on to the chance to play for a championship. Best of Luck team!!!!
