NRP Information (Port Stanley Minor Hockey)

PrintNRP Information
What does NRP mean?

OMHA has approved a process for player movement to larger centers for AA and A hockey. Contrary to popular belief, this is not a wide open boundaries opportunity. Player are only eligible to tryout at the nearest AA or A center accepting NRP Players for tryouts. For Port Stanley Minor Hockey players these centers will be St. Thomas (A) and London Jr. Knights (AA). None of the London Community Based AA leagues are accepting NRP Players, only the Jr. Knights. ONLY Peewee aged players and above are eligible for NRP Passports.
How it Works

Upon registration with their home centre players eligible to attend try-outs with a AA or A centre may request a NRP Passport. It is the responsibility of the player's home association to verify the player's eligibility by age and residency with their association and to determine the AA OR A centre with which the player is eligible to tryout. The player will be eligible to tryout with the AA or A centre closest to the player's residence, that is accepting NRPs, based on the mileage from the player's residential address as recorded in the Hockey Canada Registry to the Centre Point of the AA or A centre. All mileages are to be obtained via Google Maps. The player must declare whether or not they are trying out for AA or A. Only one Passport will be issued per player.

If your child is planning to try out for the Middlesex Elgin Chiefs AAA you will still need to register for your home center - Port Stanley.  Do not pay your registration- check off "OTHER" as your payment method and this will ensure your registration is complete.  Then please send an email to the registrar and the president to notify of your intentions to try out- you will need a PERMISSION TO SKATE Form - signed by the PSMHA President.

If you child is planning to try out for the St Thomas Stars as a Non-resident player (NRP) - ONLY for Peewee and above age groups- you will need to register with Port Stanley before you can try out- do not pay your registration - check "OTHER' as your payment method and this will ensure your registration is complete.  Then please send an email to the registrar and the president to notify of your intentions to try out as a NRP- you will need a NRP passport form signed by the PSMHA president.
