Jr. Sailors bitten by the Dragon once again
The Peewee LL#2 Jr. Sailors hosted the Dorchestor Dragons #1 team on Sunday December 9th in the second game of the season series.  The Jr. Sailors were looking to avenge a frustrating 4-0 loss at the hands of the Dragons the week before in Dorchester.  Although the Jr. Sailors played a much better game and showed glimpses of what they can be as a team they were just outwitted, outlasted and outplayed once again as Dorchester skated away with a 3-0 win.

The game got off to an ominous start reminiscent of the previous meeting when Dorchester took the opening face-off directly into the Port Stanley end and capitalized on a slow start by the Jr. Sailors to take a 1-0 lead only 29 seconds into the game.

Much to the delight of the hometown crowd the early goal seemed to steel the Jr. Sailors who came back with much more grit and determination and traded scoring chances with the Dragons for the next 25 minutes.  Several great saves by the goaltenders, rushes by the defense and strong fore checking by the forwards netted several quality scoring chances - any of which could have tied the game.  Even with a few timely body checks the Jr. Sailors could not knock the fire out of the Dragon's attack.  With 11:22 left in the third period the Dorchester team capitalized on one of their scoring chances to take a 2-0 lead.

Despite being down 2-0, the Jr. Sailors did not give up and kept coming.  Their inspired play again rewarded them with several good scoring chances thwarted by the Dorchester goalie, posts and skate deflections.  Once again down by 2 goals late in the third the team pulled the goalie in an attempt at another on ice miracle comeback.  The extra attacker generated even more pressure in the Dorchester defensive zone but the comeback was not to be on this day as the Dorchester team was able to clear the puck behind the pressing Jr. Sailors and find the empty cage to seal the deal and go up 2-0 in the season series with a 3-0 win.

The Jr. Sailors take to the ice next in Dorchester against the Dorchester #2 Dragons on Saturday December 22nd.
