Peewee LL2, Peewee, 2012-2013 (Port Stanley Minor Hockey)

The Port Stanley Jr Sailors Peewee LL2 team entered into the LMLL Playoffs, having drawn a strong Ilderton Jets team from the Western Division.  The Jr Sailors we playing strong hockey entering into the playoff round, but a lack of consistency ended up costing the team the opportunity to advance to the championship round.  The series ended 3-1 in favour of an Ilderton team, despite the Jr Sailors controlling the play for several occasions in the series.  It truly was a 'Tale of Two Sailors' as the team seemed to be different from game-to-game, a fact that Ilderton capitalized on to win the ...

On Hockey Day in Canada, Feb 9th, the Port Stanley Jr Sailors #2 took on their hometown rivals Port Stanley #1, in a rubber-match of their matchups this season. On this day, however, nothing was decided, as each team road strong goaltending on route to a 1-1 tie.

On Feb 3rd, the Port Stanley Jr Sailors completed the regular season by taking on the Thamesford Attack in the 3rd of 3-game series. The Jr Sailors used a balanced attack to complete the season sweep of the Attack with a solid 6-0 win. The Jr Sailors wrap up the Regular Season with a 12-5-3 record.

On Jan 27th, the Jr Sailors LL2 team hosted the Lambeth Lancers for the final game of their 3-game season series. For the second game in a row, the team was forced to play without a key member of squad as Blueline Crew member Jess Szusz was missing for the game. The game was a tightly contested affair that ended with a memorable 3rd period as the Jr Sailors showed their heart and never-give-up attitude, by scoring 2 goals in the final minutes to secure a 2-2 tie.

On Jan 26th, the Port Stanley Jr Sailors LL2 team hosted the Aylmer Flames LL2 team. The Jr Sailors had to face the 2nd place Flames a little short-handed, as key players Liam Hepburn & Kayla Benwell we missing for the afternoon game. Port Stanley was looking to continue their season-best 6 game winning streak, but the Aylmer Flames LL2 were looking to avenge a 4-1 loss on Jan 13th. Despite missing a couple of key members of the team, the Jr Sailors put up a strong fight, but it wasn’t enough to get over the hump in an eventual 5-3 loss to end the streak
