REGISTRATION FOR REP HOCKEY IN PORT STANLEY 2022/2023 Boundaries Agreement.
PSMHA & STMHA are happy to announce that a boundary agreement has been reached for the upcoming season.  This is a one year trial agreement designed for every player to find the right team and skill level for representative hockey. This agreement will have 4 Rep teams compete at each level. The first three playing out of St.Thomas and the fourth playing out of Port Stanley. We understand that there are many questions from our members on how this will work so hopefully the following helps.

Q. If my child wants to tryout for Rep hockey, where do I sign up.

A. All Rep hockey will be administered through STMHA therefore you will register for tryouts with St.Thomas. You can find information for tryouts at their website https://urldefense.com/v3/__http://stmha.net__;!!PxNGlQK5RbneE5k!VAsyGqgJCqh-ebQ_ATBNHicVl7Lni43Hfq1eSybEF6FDoCEBiKhZRR1p0L3ngGpt3OcETcUzJr8YIo2Gc1aFiWdQnuc$ . Please note that the OMHA is currently working on allowing kids from Port Stanley to register with St.Thomas and this process should be done shortly.  We will update when this is complete.

Q. Do I need to sign a Right of Choice ( ROC) or receive a 3.5 in order to play in St.Thomas?

A. No. This is a shared boundary and players can freely move to St.Thomas. Any players that have signed an ROC will still be property of STMHA after the season is completed.

Q. What happens if my child does not make a representative team with STMHA? Can I play in Port Stanley?

A. Yes.  In the event your child does not make a representative team you can ask to be transferred to Port Stanley to play LL hockey.

Q. My child wants to tryout for AAA hockey. Who do I register with?

A. Register with St.Thomas minor hockey and request a permission to skate form.

Q. I want to Help coach the Rep team out of Port Stanley this season, who do I reach out to?

A. If you are interested in coaching the 4th Rep team you can apply through the coaching application link on either associations website. There will be a joint committee to evaluate and choose the coaching for this team. All LL coaches will continue to apply through the PSMHA coaching application link.

This agreement in no way effects LL hockey in either Port Stanley or St.Thomas. We will continue to offer the same ice time and skills for all kids. It is important to know that as of this year the OMHA is not offering Rep programming at the U9 level and will be replaced with Minor Development (MD) and is not considered Rep hockey. This will be a selected team playing in a new tiered MD loop in shamrock. For all kids playing LL or MD you register as normal with PSMHA. Early registration closes July 1st so please get your child registered as this helps us determine programming for the upcoming season. This is a very exciting time for both associations and we are looking forward to a very competitive and fun 2022/2023 season.

Thank you

Referees

The Elgin Referee Association has had a significant decline in membership this year.  As a result we have had to reschedule some games and expect to have to do so several more times this season.  When you see a referee, please welcome and thank them!  Yes, they can be a source of frustration at times, but you cannot play any games without them!

The association will sponsor anyone who wishes to become certified.   REFEREE EDUCATION (omha.net)
