A Week at the Arenas
It was a very busy week for the Atom LL team.  Starting it off by playing a home and away series with Lambeth on Wednesday and Thursday night.

On Wednesday night the kids came out strong and outplayed the Lambeth squad. Goaltending by Jackson and Brock kept Lambeth scratching their heads and the two combined for a 2-0 shutout.  On Thursday night our players worked just as hard but the Lambeth goaltender kept us off the goal sheet most of the night earning Lambeth a 2-1 victory.
On Friday we started the West Lorne tournament against the West Lorne Gold team.  I'm not sure if we were tired from the previous two nights, but the kids came out flat.  After all the snow cleared West Lorne won 6-3.  We travelled back on Saturday to face the West Lorne Black team.  This was a back and forth well played game that saw us score the winning goal with just over 3 minutes left in the game.  (That is a long 3 minutes fighting off a hungry opposing team). The team played smart positional hockey to pull out the 3-2 victory.  So with the team winning Saturday we returned to West Lorne for the Consolation final against Strathroy Red.  This involved some great end to end action with Brock using his head to help keep us in the game.  At just over 8 minutes left in the third period we received another penalty.  This seemed to energize the kids as they went out and scored 4 short handed goals. The players didn't stop there adding another later in the period for the 6-1 victory and the Consolation Championship.
The team really played hard all week and resulted in some nail biter hockey.  The players should be proud of the way they played and congratulations to all!!
