Rules and Regulations

  1. This is an OMHA sanctioned tournament. All teams must be registered with the OMHA or its affiliates.
  2. All OMHA Rules and Regulations apply to tournament games.
  3. All referee’s decisions are final, and not up for debate.
  4. Any major penalties are subject to OMHA suspensions, as found in the OMHA rule book.
  5. Any “fighting major” or “head check major” will mean automatic suspension from the remainder of the tournament.
  6. Team Check-In is 45 minutes prior to your first game, and approved rosters are needed for entry in the tournament.
  7. All teams must be ready to play 15 minutes before the scheduled game time. There will be a 2 minute
    warm-up period before each game time.
  8. All games will be 10-10-10 stop time periods.
  9. In the 3rd period, if one team is up by 5 goals, the clock will be run time.
  10. We will be using electronic game sheets, I-pads are not to leave the registration area and must be
    completed 20 minutes before the scheduled game time.
  11. All teams are guaranteed 4 games.
  12. Teams will be divided into 2 groups and all teams will advance to the Playoffs on Sunday.
  13. There will be no overtime in round robin regular games. Overtime will be played in the playoffs only.
  14. The scoring of each of the games will be using a 10 point system.

a.    2 points per period, 1 point per team if the period is tied.

b. 4 points for a win, 2 points per team if game is tied.

c. Point ties in standings will be decided by the following scale:

  i.    Most wins

 ii. Head to head record

iii. Least penalty minutes

 iv. Least goals against

  v. Coin flip

There is no reason to run up the score – so please show good sportsmanship and DON’T!

 

15. In the event of tie at the end of the third period in the playoffs, overtime will be as follows:

a. Sudden Victory, 2 minutes 4 on 4, can only change on the fly (no changing at whistles)

b. 1st whistle after the 2 minutes, each team removes a player (3-3)

c. 1st whistle after the next 2 minutes, each team removes a player (2-2)

d. 1st whistle after the next 2 minutes, each team removes a player (1-1)

e. If teams are still tied play continues until a goal is scored. 

 

16. In the event of a penalty during overtime play, the offending player will serve the penalty, non-offending team will
put an extra player on the ice.

17. Once the penalty time has been served the offending player will return to the ice and play will continue until the first stoppage of play.

18. At that time the game will return to the format of 15 above.
